District Grant for Project LEGO Part 2

posted Jun 29, 2017, 8:45 AM by Becca Smith

In the 2016-2017 year our Cary-Kildaire Rotary Club worked out at Life Experiences to finish up our District Grant on Project LEGO Part 2.  Part 1 was done a few years ago when we built & installed above ground garden beds.  The gardens were used for our friends at Life Experiences to grow plants and learn about taking care of them and the food they produce.  We realized that the path over to the garden beds was uneven and not an easy walk.  So Project LEGO Part 2 included adding in a smooth patio walkway, plus pavers all the away around the garden beds.  It's so nice now for everyone to enjoy!

On November 12th, 2015, we had a special guest speaker to our club.  Joe Dittmar, was on the 105th floor of Tower Two (South Tower) in the World Trade Center on September 11th.  He is was in an insurance business meeting with 54 other executives when the airplane hit tower one.   Joe is one of eight who escaped the meeting and made it out of the building alive.  Joe's personal account of the events that day were incredible, stunning and shocking all at once.  Joe travels around the country and shares his story as a way of keeping the lives lost that day alive and not forgotten.   Joe does not charge a fee to speak to groups.  Thank you Joe, for coming to visit Cary-Kildaire Rotary Club and sharing your story.
